What is a WiFi QR code?

When your router generates a WiFi QR code, it encodes the network name, password, and security protocol into a format your phone camera understands instantly. The problem is laptops have no equivalent — upload the image here and this tool pulls out each field so you can enter them manually in your network settings.

Every WiFi QR code contains a raw string like this:

WIFI:T:WPA2;S:MyNetwork;P:mypassword123;H:false;;

T is the security type, S is the network name, P is the password, and H flags whether the network is hidden from the device scan list. The QR code format is defined by the ISO/IEC 18004:2024 standard.
